Jeff has the Adobe Presenter version on a memory stick and will be at the Burlington, London and Ottawa sessions 1 of 3 to do this overview "live". I'll be at the Sudbury 1 of 3.
Day 1
Introductory Activity
This "story" needs to be customized to Burlington (Jeff said he will do that), to London, and to Sudbury. Thhis version is the "Ottawa version"
Since presenter is leading from slides 26-69, it might be a good idea to take the pieces (expectation / big idea / lesson goal / consolidation questions) on slides 52, 54 & 56 and cut them up into puzzle pieces (that would make 12 strips of paper). These could be placed in an envelope for each set of pairs/triads. Groups could then sort these. This exercise would be helpful as it will break up the presenter time, but moreover will engage participants in making sense of the alignment between expectation, big idea, learning goal and consolidation questions. It would definitely be a good time for them to have this type of conversation in preparation for the creation of their own learning goal and consolidation question(s). Marian, can you post the word documents for the three options??
At this point, participants are only seeing the consolidation questions in "consolidate/debrief". Some coaches were concerned that there was no longer an opportunity to "pull out the math". I mentioned that we would be discussing this once we got to open/parallel questions, however thought you should have a heads up. Also, some were concerned that the consolidation questions would be seen as "evaluation" and so it would be appropriate to make a connection to assessment for learning and that we will be further discussing assessment on Day 3.
Have coaches focus on learning goal and consolidation questions only.
During the coaching session, there were some coaches who had the 2-day coaching training and some who were new and had not. The success of the feedback process that coaches / coachees engaged in really depended on the experience of the coach. A recommendation that was made was to pair up a more experienced coach with a new coach for the feedback process. The new coach could be the observer, while the more experienced coach could model the feedback process. It might be a good idea to create a recording template for the observer, and then build in a bit of time for a debrief of the observation.
Below are sample classroom and professional learning protocols that can be shared with participants. (These are take away items.)

Norms: PPT slides to be included in overview PPT, whole group and breakout group norms
Burlington feedback: We printed just a couple of handouts for each table.
I thought it may be helpful to print the norms on cardstock (tagboard) and have them as tent cards on the tables. Files for this are below. Shelley
Big Ideas in Teacher and Kid Language
Burlington feedback: Teachers really appreciated the kid language version.

Once again, well received by the participants.
